The Assessor Department will work with property owners to review potential property damages caused by a calamity such as a fire, earthquake, or flooding and will make value adjustments as appropriate. Damage to land, buildings or other structures totaling ten thousand dollars ($10,000) or more may be eligible.
If you believe you qualify, please complete an Application for Reassessment of Property Damaged by a Misfortune or Calamity and the Requirements for Eligibility. The completed application must be submitted to the Assessor within 12 months of the date the calamity occurred. The following guide on how to fill out the application is also provided for your assistance.
The law does not allow for any extensions or exceptions. If the claim is not filed within 12 months, it cannot be processed.
If available, please submit copies of cost estimates, and / or contracts to repair the damage with the application to expedite processing. You may submit the application without documentation to meet the 12-month filing timeframe.
